A whole room turned into a colourful playground

ColoRoom is not a drawing class, and even less a place where you need to know how to paint. It's a room designed like a big paint pit: a canvas awaits you, pots of paint reach out to you, and the whole family can really go for it. Here, you're not trying to make something pretty, you're trying to have fun. For parents who want an outing sheltered from the rain, easy to reach in the city and a bit different from the classics, it's a lovely discovery.

What your children will discover

As soon as they walk through the door, your children realise that the usual rules don't apply here. You're allowed to put colour everywhere, to mix, to splatter, to experiment. Instead of the well-behaved brush, they're handed unexpected tools: boxing gloves, balloons, ropes, brushes of all kinds and everyday objects repurposed. Some sessions take place in a dimmed atmosphere lit by UV lamps, where the fluorescent colours seem to explode on the canvas. It's the perfect chance to let go, to get good and messy (without being told off) and to make something together.

What you do there and the atmosphere on site

You come as a family or with friends, you put on clothes you don't mind ruining, and you get going on the canvas for the duration of the session. The atmosphere is joyful, a touch chaotic, and everyone takes part, from the youngest to the parents. No judgement, no right or wrong way to do it: everyone creates at their own pace. At the end, you leave with your canvas (to collect a few days later, framed or not), a real keepsake to display at home.

• Recommended age: from 6 years to fully enjoy the experience; younger children are welcome but will need a helping hand.
• Duration: allow about an hour of painting, plus time to change.
• Booking: the session is booked in advance, online. Think ahead, especially at the weekend.
• Clothing: bring clothes you don't mind ruining, it really does splash.

• Transport: TPG tram and buses serve the Les Acacias area; parking is trickier in the urban zone, so favour public transport.
• Best season: perfect all year round; it's a 100% indoor activity, ideal on rainy days.

Tips from parents

• Dress everyone in old clothes and bring something to change into afterwards.
• Book early to get the slot that suits you; weekends go fast.
• Ask for the UV-light session if your children love fluorescent colours; the effect is stunning.
• Keep in mind that you collect the canvas a few days later: your artwork isn't to take home the same day.
