Want to discover Geneva differently, turning a walk into an adventure? Finding Daniel is an urban treasure hunt to do as a family: you set off in search of a prankster guide, puzzle after puzzle, through the city's most beautiful spots.

A life-size treasure hunt in the streets of Geneva

Daniel was supposed to be waiting for you at the meeting point... but he slipped away. It is up to you to pick up his trail by solving his puzzles, which lead you from district to district along Lake Geneva. No closed room and no fixed time: you buy the route online, you receive your code by email, and you start whenever you like, at your own pace, smartphone in hand.

What your children will discover

Rather than a classic guided tour, Finding Daniel works the legs and the brain at the same time. The Geneva route starts from the Cornavin station and ends at the Mur des Réformateurs, passing through a good handful of iconic places: the Jet d'eau, the Jardin anglais and its famous Horloge fleurie, the Bains des Pâquis... Your children see the city from a playful angle, spot details you would never normally notice and progress through the investigation by answering the questions of the famous Daniel.

What you do there and the atmosphere on site

The idea is simple and addictive: you solve a puzzle, you send the answer to Daniel via an interactive chat, and he points the way to the next spot. The atmosphere is that of a real little outdoor adventure, halfway between a tourist stroll and an open-air escape game. You walk, you search, you laugh at the sometimes tricky questions, and you discover Geneva while having fun. Plan on about 5.2 km of route on easy ground (with a few stairs), for 2.5 to 3.5 hours of play depending on your pace and the number of breaks.

Before you go

  • Recommended age: from age 10 to follow the puzzles independently; the publisher officially recommends 12 and up, but younger children happily take part with a hand from their parents.
  • Duration: plan on 2.5 to 3.5 hours, breaks included.
  • Booking: none. The route is bought online, the code arrives by email, and you play on the day you want, 24/7.
  • Stroller accessibility: the route is done in town on easy ground and a stroller / wheelchair-friendly variant exists; check the option at the time of purchase on the official website.
  • Transport: ideal start at the Geneva Cornavin station, served by CFF trains, TPG trams and buses. By car, favour the city-centre car parks (P+R recommended) rather than looking for a spot near the lake.
  • What to bring: a charged smartphone (with a little backup battery), good walking shoes, a water bottle and something to snack on.
  • Best season: doable all year round; spring and summer remain the most pleasant for strolling along the lake.

Parents' tips

  • Set off in the morning or early afternoon to finish in daylight.
  • Let the children read and solve the puzzles themselves: that is the whole pleasure.
  • Plan a snack break at the Bains des Pâquis or the Jardin anglais, perfect for catching your breath between two puzzles.
  • An external battery avoids any nasty surprise, since everything goes through the phone.
