Grand-Champ Ice Rink
Every winter, a mobile ice rink covering about 525 m² is set up at the Grand-Champ sports complex in Gland, from late October to early March. Free access, affordable skate rentals, and activities for children: it's the family gathering of the cold season on La Côte.
Ice skating in Gland all winter long
When the days get shorter, the Grand-Champ sports complex changes its appearance: on the basketball court, a covered mobile ice rink of about 525 m² is set up for the season, usually from October 31 to March 1. It has become a much-anticipated meeting place for families from Gland and all of La Côte. You lace up your skates, glide, fall, and get back up again, all in a joyful and friendly atmosphere. And since the rink is covered, you can skate sheltered from the weather.
What your children will discover
The joy of gliding, simply put. For the youngest, it’s often their first steps on the ice: they cling on, hesitate, and then gain confidence. The older ones become more at ease and skate in circles. Beyond free skating, the rink offers various activities throughout the season: hockey, broomball, curling on ice (eisstock), and even silent disco nights. There’s always a good reason to come back.
What to do there and the atmosphere on site
The atmosphere is friendly and local: families, school friends, and teens gather. People come for an hour of skating, catch their breath at the edge of the rink, and warm up with a hot drink at the refreshment stand on site. Throughout the season, festive moments enliven the rink, making it a winter gathering point in Gland. It’s the kind of outing where both young and old find enjoyment.
