Luge Féeline de la Robella in Buttes: 1200 m of fun for the family

Fancy some thrills without leaving the valley? In Buttes, in the Val-de-Travers, the Luge Féeline de La Robella takes you down 1200 metres of elevated rails, from age 3, accompanied by an adult. A ride for the whole family, all summer long.

La Robella, a valley you ride down by toboggan

There are outings that make children's eyes light up before the very first bend. The Luge Féeline, at the La Robella resort above Buttes, is clearly one of them. Along 1200 metres of elevated rails that wind down the mountainside, you race through banked bends, spirals and little bumps, one eye on the Val-de-Travers scenery, the other on the brake lever. Because here, you decide the pace: cautious with the little ones, livelier when the urge for thrills takes over. Set right at the bottom of the resort, this rail toboggan can be enjoyed from age 3, provided you ride with an adult. Enough to turn a day in the Neuchâtel Jura into a real sliding adventure.

What your children will discover

The Féeline is not a classic toboggan: it is a two-seater vehicle running on two elevated rails, entirely off the ground and secured. Your children discover the exhilarating feeling of the descent, but fully under control, since each toboggan is fitted with brake levers and seatbelts. The route alternates a climbing section (about 300 metres) and then a long descent (about 900 metres) dotted with curves and undulations. For the youngest, it is often the very first time they hold a speed control themselves, snugly tucked against you: a great moment of pride.

What you do there and the atmosphere on site

You settle in two to a toboggan, fasten the seatbelt, and off you go for a full ride: the gentle climb whets the appetite, the descent gets the adrenaline going. The atmosphere is family-friendly and laid-back, typical of the Jura resorts: you do lap after lap, you laugh, you start again. And as La Robella is a real summer resort, you can easily extend the outing on site with the pump track, mini-golf, the scooters, a treasure hunt or the walking trails. Allow plenty of time: between the toboggan and the rest of the activities, half a day flies by.

  • What to bring: closed shoes, a jacket (it can be cool in the mountains) and sunscreen.

Tips from parents

  • Always keep an adult at the controls with a young child: they manage the brake and the speed.
  • In high season (July-August), arrive in the morning to enjoy the toboggan before the crowds and the heat.
  • The toboggan is open in all weathers, but after rain the route can be slippery: stay cautious and brake more.
  • Remember a jacket: even in fine weather down in the plain, it is often cooler up at La Robella.
  • Combine the toboggan with the pump track or mini-golf for a full half-day without an awkward transition for the children.

Why we recommend it

Because it is one of the rare sliding activities truly accessible to toddlers in French-speaking Switzerland, in an unspoilt mountain setting that is easy to reach from the Val-de-Travers. We love the fact that the child takes part (the brake lever, the seatbelt, the feeling of driving) while staying safe with an adult. And with the rest of the La Robella resort all around, you have a real full day out, at once sporty, fun and in the open air.

In a nutshell

A 1200-metre rail toboggan above Buttes, from age 3 with an adult: controlled thrills, the fresh air of the Neuchâtel Jura and a complete summer resort to keep the fun going.
