Château Pool in Tramelan: the large outdoor swimming area of the Bernese Jura
Want a day to splash around and dive in nature? In Tramelan, the Piscine du Château features its outdoor pools set in a vast wooded park. A 50 m pool, a wading pool for the little ones, diving boards, beach volleyball: here is our family favorite in the Bernese Jura.
A large outdoor water park in the heart of the Bernese Jura
In Tramelan, on the franc-montagnard plateau, the Piscine du Château is the summer meeting place for families from all over the region. Set on more than 33,000 m² of shaded green spaces, on chemin du Château, it is the only public pool in the municipality and one of the most generous in the Bernese Jura. People come to swim, dive, splash around, but also to picnic in the shade of the trees and spend the whole day outdoors. A nice feature: the water in the pools is heated with wood from the municipality and hovers around 24°C throughout the season, allowing for swimming without shivering even when the Jura sky is playful.
What your children will discover
Here, there is something for all ages and all levels. The little ones have their paddling pool with water games, shallow and reassuring, where they can splash around in peace. Beginner children can enjoy a learning pool and a non-swimmer pool to gain confidence. Older kids and experienced swimmers can dive into the large 50-meter pool and challenge each other from the 1 and 3-meter diving boards. Around the water, the site quickly transforms into a giant playground: play area, beach volleyball, ping-pong, soccer field. Enough to alternate between swimming and large games in the sun.
What to do there and the atmosphere on site
The atmosphere is that of a real village pool: relaxed, family-friendly, and welcoming. People spread their towels on the lawn, children dart from one pool to another, and between swims, they gather for a game of beach volleyball or a picnic. The large wooded park offers plenty of shady spots, which are precious on hot days. On site, a restaurant with a terrace allows you to eat without leaving, and a picnic area with a grill welcomes those who prefer to grill their sausages. It’s easy to come for a few hours, and people often end up spending the whole day there.
