Nestled between the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud, Lake Murten is the smallest of the region's three lakes. It is also often the warmest: its shallow depth lets the water temperature climb quickly with the first warm days, making it one of the best early-season swimming spots in French-speaking Switzerland.

Murten beach, the lakeside pool and the shores of Avenches offer an ideal setting for a family swim. Check the live water temperature before you go, along with the forecast and the month-by-month historical averages.
