Ludothèque Carouge

Carouge·Geneva

In Carouge, families have a toy library where they can borrow games and toys rather than buy them. The principle is that of a library, applied to play: you choose a box, take it home, play with it for the duration of the loan, then bring it back and discover another.

For children, it means regularly refreshed games without cluttering the flat; for parents, an economical way to test a game before giving it as a gift, or to find an activity idea for Wednesdays and rainy days.

The toy library is aimed at families in the region, in Carouge and the surrounding Geneva area. Practical information (opening hours, lending conditions and address) is available on the dedicated page of the City of Carouge website.

Ludothèque Lancy

Grand-Lancy, 1212

The municipal toy library of Lancy sets out to be a place that fosters personal growth, meeting and exchange. On Avenue des Communes-Réunies in Grand-Lancy, it brings together varied spaces devoted to on-site play and to borrowing games and toys, with a team of professionals guiding visitors in their choices. Several times a week it welcomes families, but also school classes and groups, play here belongs as much to school life as to family life. The doors open three days a week: Wednesday mornings and afternoons, plus Thursdays and Fridays from 14:00 to 18:00. Just right for a visit after school, leaving with a game to discover as a family.

Ludothèque de Veyrier

Veyrier, 1255

In the Geneva municipality of Veyrier, the toy library works like a lending library, games edition: families from the area come to borrow games and toys, try them out at home, then bring them back and leave with new ones. The formula has plenty going for it: you can test a game before buying it, match your choices to your children's age and current interests, and keep a fresh stock of ideas for Wednesdays and rainy days, all without buying every tempting new release. Opening hours and lending conditions are presented on the toy library's website; dropping in remains the best way to discover the full range on offer.

Ludothèque Plan-les-Ouates

Plan-les-Ouates, 1228

At Chemin de Vers 8, around fifteen volunteer toy librarians keep the Ludothèque Plan-les-Ouates running, with hundreds of games available to families of all ages. You can borrow games, but also play on site free of charge (a chance to try a title before adopting it for good) and even hire fancy dress costumes. The toy library opens three times a week: Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:00 to 18:00, and Friday mornings from 09:00 to 11:00. For a birthday or a big gathering, the party package lets you take home ten games for a week. And in summer, outdoor games round out the collection, plenty to liven up the garden or the playground without buying a thing.
