The municipal Ludothèque Arc-en-ciel in Granges-Paccot offers a selection intended specially for parties and birthdays, on top of the games it lends to children in the municipality throughout the year. Based at Route de Chantemerle 60, it opens three times a week: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 15:00 to 18:00, and Saturday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00. It works in tandem with the municipal library, based a few numbers further along the same road, handy for combining games and books in a single outing. Note that the toy library is closed during the summer and Christmas holidays. The rest of the year, it gives families a simple way to vary the games at home without having to buy them.

Ludothèque Com. Villars-sur-Glâne

It is not every day that a toy library also lends fancy dress costumes: in Romont, La Chouette (the Glâne toy library) rounds out a collection of around 1,500 games and toys aimed at visitors aged 3 to 99. The catalogue can be consulted online, handy for spotting your next find before dropping in. Some twenty volunteer toy librarians handle lending, advice and the upkeep of the games. Adults are not forgotten: monthly games evenings are reserved for them, on Tuesdays from 20:00 to 22:30. More than 40 years of history, more than 2,600 games in the catalogue and over 500 member families: the Gruyère toy library, based at Rue du Marché 10 in Bulle, is one of the best stocked in the canton of Fribourg. It is hard not to find what you are looking for, whether a proven classic or a new title to try before buying. Opening hours are particularly generous: the toy library opens six days a week, including a Click & Collect service on Monday mornings from 08:00 to 11:00 and extended opening on Fridays until 19:00. Beyond lending, it offers « Fritime Piccolo » parent-and-child activities for ages 2 to 6, sessions for school classes (Ludoclasses), gift vouchers and game bundles for celebrations.

Ludothèque du Gibloux

At the foot of the Gibloux, the Vuisternens-en-Ogoz toy library lends games and toys to families in the municipality three times a week: Tuesdays and Fridays from 15:30 to 17:30, and Saturdays from 09:00 to 11:00. It is closed during school holidays. Located at Route de la Pépinière 20, it is a member of the Swiss Federation of Toy Libraries and holds Procap certification attesting to the accessibility of its premises, a guarantee of a welcome for everyone. No membership is needed to get started at the Marly toy library: each game can be hired individually, for 2 to 5 francs, or through an annual membership of 30 to 50 francs for regular borrowers. Bundles are also available for birthdays. The collection holds more than 1,000 games to borrow, « for young and old from 0 to 99 »: an economical way to discover new titles before giving them as gifts, or simply to change games with the seasons. Sessions take place at Chemin des Epinettes 2, on Wednesdays from 13:30 to 16:00 and Saturdays from 09:30 to 12:00. Every Monday afternoon, from 15:00 to 18:00 (except during school holidays), Ludothèque Papayou opens its doors to families from Attalens and the surrounding area, in the Fribourg Veveyse. You will find it in the civil defence shelter of the primary school, in the yellow building « Les Blés ». The shelves mix skill games, board games, educational games and both indoor and outdoor toys: enough to equip an afternoon at home as well as a fine day in the garden, without having to buy every new release. Membership remains affordable: 25 francs for six months or 40 francs for the year. A simple formula for regularly refreshing children's games as ages and seasons change.

A team wholly devoted to play keeps Ludothèque Pinocchio in Courtepin running: a committee of three people, supported by around ten assistant toy librarians, staffs the sessions on Wednesday afternoons (13:30 – 15:30) and Saturday mornings (09:00 – 11:00). On the shelves at Route de Fribourg 19, more than 1,000 games await families from the region. Designed first and foremost for children, the toy library welcomes adult players just as readily, whether they are after a party game for an evening or a safe bet for a family Sunday. The lending principle keeps boxes rotating at home without piling up: you try, you adopt, or you bring it back and pick something else on your next visit.

Ludothèque Schtroumpf de Neyruz et environs

Founded in 1986, Ludothèque Schtroumpf serves Neyruz and the surrounding villages from the municipal complex, below the gym hall, at Route d'Onnens 5. It lends games and toys to everyone, young and less young, and also offers Tonies figurines: stories, songs and adventures to listen to. Two weekly sessions set the rhythm of the place: Wednesdays from 15:00 to 17:00 and Saturdays from 09:00 to 11:00. Free parking is available on site, which makes visits easier with children or bags of games to return. Run by a committee of five toy librarians, the toy library relies on a team of around twenty volunteers, a fine village effort built around the pleasure of play.

MEMO reinvents the neighbourhood library in the centre of Fribourg: at Rue de l'Hôpital 2, the City's combined library and toy library gathers novels, comics, non-fiction, DVDs, audiobooks and games to borrow (up to four per person) in French and German under one roof. The venue is designed as a living space for adults, young people and children: a pay-what-you-want coffee corner, a seed library, Nintendo Switch consoles, a nursing pillow and a changing table make family visits easier, even with a baby. A digital help desk also assists visitors with technology questions. MEMO opens five days a week: afternoons from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 on Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00, enough to fit a visit into almost any schedule.
