A small nature reserve in the heart of the Geneva enclave
The Bois de Bondex is one of those discreet spots we love to share. This small nature reserve of about 6.6 hectares is located in Céligny, the Geneva enclave nestled in the midst of Vaud's Terre Sainte. On a pocket handkerchief, it brings together forest, meadows, and marshes, and is home to a surprising biodiversity. People come here for a peaceful nature walk, to observe, and to learn to look. It is not a recreational park: it is a protected space that we traverse gently, staying on the paths.
What your children will discover
Your children will discover three natural environments in one place: the undergrowth, the meadows, and the marsh. The reserve is home to around 170 species of mushrooms, agile frogs to spot near the marsh, and in spring, wild orchids that emerge in the meadows. It is an ideal terrain to sharpen the sense of observation: listen, look, recognize. A beautiful open-air nature lesson, with nothing to buy.
What to do there and the atmosphere on site
The atmosphere is calm and preserved: we speak softly, move at our own pace, and stop to observe. It is a contemplative walk, perfect for taking a break away from the hustle and bustle. Since it is a reserve, certain rules apply: we stay on the paths to avoid trampling the flora, and especially dogs are prohibited, even on a leash, to protect the wildlife. There is no playground or family facilities: it is a true nature outing.
