A historic canal along a nature trail
Between Eclépens and La Sarraz, the Canal d'Entreroches trail runs along the remains of a 17th-century canal (dug between 1638 and 1648), which was once meant to link Lake Neuchâtel to Lake Geneva. Today, it's an easy nature loop of 3.7 km (1 hour's walk), with interpretive panels. In spring, the Mormont area is covered with carpets of wild daffodils. A rustic and instructive walk, perfect as a family.
What your children will discover
Children walk along the water, discover the surprising history of this old canal and, in spring, cross real fields of daffodils. The panels tell the place's past in a simple way. It's a walk that blends nature, history and fresh air, easy to do with young children.
What you do and the atmosphere on site
You follow the waymarked loop, on gravel and forest paths, with picnic areas for a break. The atmosphere is calm and bucolic. In spring (in March and April, peaking in the second half of March), the daffodils are the great spectacle; the rest of the fine season, the trail stays pleasant and shaded.
