The only horse museum in Switzerland

Set in the Château de La Sarraz, the Musée Suisse du Cheval is the only museum in Switzerland entirely devoted to the horse. Across eight themed rooms, it tells the story of equestrian art, military history, work on the farm and travel by stagecoach. Family workshops, blacksmith demonstrations and activities with horses punctuate the season. A fascinating dive into the world of the horse, to discover at the same time as the castle.

What your children will discover

Children discover how the horse has accompanied humans over the centuries: at war, in the fields, on the roads. Saddles, harnesses, objects and reconstructions tell these stories in a lively way. During the workshops (drawing, demonstrations), they get as close as possible to the equestrian world. Enough to delight all horse lovers.

What you do and the atmosphere on site

You wander through the museum's rooms, in the heart of the castle, then enjoy any workshops or demonstrations of the day. The atmosphere is that of a place steeped in history, both instructive and lively. The visit combines ideally with that of the castle and its park. A big Fête du Cheval also brings the site to life each year.
