Activities for children in Pont-en-Ogoz
Born of the merger of Gumefens, Avry-devant-Pont and Le Bry, the municipality of Pont-en-Ogoz occupies the western shore of Lake Gruyère. Its name recalls the medieval site of Pont-en-Ogoz, whose remains now stand in the middle of the water, on the Île d'Ogoz.
This is where you find one of the largest beaches on the lake, at Gumefens, and the Port du Bry, from which solar-powered boats set off for the island. A municipality where the family outing plays out as much on the lawn as on the water.

Gumefens Beach: the wide lawn facing the Île d'Ogoz
Fancy a beach where you can spread out your towels without bumping into anyone? At Gumefens, the lawn unrolls nearly 2,000 m2 on the shore of Lake Gruyère, with the Île d'Ogoz and its medieval ruins as a backdrop. Entirely free, with a large car park right beside it, along the Route du Marais.

Do your children dream of an island with a real castle? In the middle of Lake Gruyère, the Île d'Ogoz keeps two towers from the 13th century and a small white chapel. You reach it by solar-powered boat from the Port du Bry, and on a few days each year, on foot.
Why choose Pont-en-Ogoz for a family outing?
Because it offers the finest combination on the lake: a large free beach and an island to visit. At Gumefens, the grassy area unrolls around 2,000 square metres beside the water, with a great many parking spaces right next to it, along the Route du Marais. From the shore you can see the Île d'Ogoz and the outline of its ruins.
From the Port du Bry, solar-powered boats with twelve seats take families out to that island, where two towers from the 13th century and the Saint-Théodule chapel still stand. On only a few days each year, when the lake level drops below 668 metres, the island becomes a peninsula again and can be reached on foot.
It is also a good base for understanding the landscape: Lake Gruyère is an artificial lake, created by the Rossens dam in 1948, and the Île d'Ogoz is the best place to explain that to children.
