Glacier 3000 and the Peak Walk by Tissot: the roof of the Vaud Alps
Do your children want to walk at 3,000 metres and cross a suspension bridge between two peaks? At Glacier 3000, above Les Diablerets, the Peak Walk by Tissot offers a vertiginous, free crossing, with a glacier, an alpine coaster and high-altitude activities.
A day at the summit, at 3,000 metres above sea level
Glacier 3000 is the ultimate high-altitude experience of the Vaud Alps. From the Col du Pillon, a cable car hoists you up to the Scex Rouge, at nearly 3,000 metres. Up there, the highlight of the visit is the Peak Walk by Tissot, the only suspension bridge in the world linking two peaks: you cross it free of charge, breathless before the panorama. Around it, a glacier, viewpoints, an alpine coaster and seasonal activities turn the outing into a great day of adventure. Open in summer and winter alike (the Peak Walk is accessible all year round), it's a family must-do.
What your children will discover
Children discover the high mountains safely: the Peak Walk crossing, walking on the glacier (Glacier Walk), the panoramic viewpoint and the Snow Fun Park. In summer, the Alpine Coaster is a sensation: it's the highest alpine coaster in Europe, around 1 kilometre long. It's accessible from age 3 accompanied by someone at least 9 years old, and from age 9 solo provided you are 140 cm tall. Depending on the season, you can also discover the Snow Bus (a glacier excursion) and a dog-sled ride.
What you'll do and the atmosphere on site
The atmosphere is that of a grand high-altitude outing: you ride up by cable car, put on a jacket even in summer, cross the Peak Walk, walk on the glacier and string together Alpine Coaster runs. The restaurants let you eat at the summit. Allow half a day to a full day depending on the activities chosen. Note: the Peak Walk has steps and staircases, and pram access there is difficult.

Tips from parents
- Wrap the children up well: at 3,000 metres, it's chilly even in high summer.
- Check the day's opening conditions on glacier3000.ch before setting off: high-altitude weather matters.
- For the Alpine Coaster, check your child's age and height (from age 3 accompanied, solo from age 9 and 140 cm).
- The Peak Walk has steps: carry the little ones rather than taking the pram.
- Bring sunglasses and sunscreen: the glare off the snow is strong.
