The quiet playground of the old village

A few hundred metres from the centre, the Ancien collège playground occupies a calm corner, set back from the main road. The Ancien collège de Savigny, the village's historic building, has been converted to host early childhood services: the nursery, the kindergarten and the day-care unit all have direct access to this play area. As a result, it is a playground designed first and foremost for small children, in a sheltered setting with no traffic.

What your children will discover

The main piece of equipment is a large play combination, replaced by the commune in 2021. Next to it, a moving balance snake works on balance and coordination: children love going round it again and again, and its segments were also renewed in 2021. A climbing wall with its rope and railing completes the set. Nothing spectacular, but equipment in good condition, maintained and inspected every year by the commune.

What you do there and the atmosphere on site

This is the playground you choose when you want calm. There is no skatepark or sports pitch immediately nearby, so no older children arriving at speed on scooters: the little ones play at their own pace. During the week the place follows the rhythm of the neighbouring day-care centre; outside those hours it is often almost deserted. People stop by for a quarter of an hour on the way out of the toy library, or for a good hour at the weekend. The village has grown around it since, but the corner keeps its old schoolyard feel.

  • Transport: CarPostal lines 360 and 365 from Lausanne-Sallaz, Savigny, Centre stop, then a few minutes on foot

  • Best season: all year round

Parents' tips

  • Carry on to the La Cigale toy library, less than two minutes away on foot (Route du Collège 7), open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 pm to 6.30 pm.
  • This is the playground to choose with toddlers: less passing traffic and fewer older children than at the Forum.
  • The balance snake is the piece that keeps them busy longest, let them start over.
  • During the week at day-care hours, the space may be shared with groups of children from the kindergarten.
  • There are no public toilets on site, worth planning for with young children.

Why we recommend it

Because it answers a precise need: playing quietly with young children. Not every playground has to be an adventure park. This one is modest, well maintained, sheltered from traffic, and its closeness to the village toy library makes it a good half of a Wednesday afternoon programme in Savigny.

In a nutshell

A play combination, a moving balance snake and a climbing wall, quietly tucked behind the Ancien collège: the toddlers' playground in Savigny, a step from the toy library.
