The playground in the village centre
Set on the Place du Forum, in the heart of Savigny, this playground is the meeting point for the village families. It fills the space between the Forum, the large community hall, and the school complex, a stone's throw from the bus stop. A big ash tree gives shade in summer, and wooden benches with backrests line the area. It is the best equipped playground in the commune, regularly maintained and repaired by the municipality.
What your children will discover
At the heart of the playground stand combined wooden towers linked together, with their railings and a rope climbing net. Beside them, a climbing tree waits for the bolder ones: it was replaced in 2017 and repaired in 2023, a sign of how much it gets used. The ground is a shock-absorbing surface, repaired several times by the commune, which limits the damage after a fall. A picnic table completes the set, perfect for a snack.
What you do there and the atmosphere on site
This is a village playground, not a giant leisure park: people come after school, on Wednesday afternoons, or on the way back from the shops. Its strength is the immediate neighbourhood. The skatepark, the multisports court, the athletics track and the synthetic football pitch are all a few dozen metres away and all freely accessible. Brothers and sisters of different ages are therefore all catered for at the same time: the little ones on the towers, the older ones playing basketball or riding a scooter. Parents settle on a bench or at the picnic table and keep everyone in sight.
Before you go
- Recommended age: roughly 2 to 12 years, with the climbing equipment suiting children from about 4 or 5
- Duration: an hour to half a day if you carry on with the neighbouring sports facilities
- Price: free, a municipal playground with open access
- Booking: none
- Pushchair access: level ground in the village centre, easy access
- Transport: CarPostal lines 360 and 365 from Lausanne-Sallaz (m2 metro), Savigny, Centre stop; parking spaces around the Place du Forum
- What to bring: a snack, a water bottle and clothes that can get a little dirty
- Best season: all year round, with the shade of the ash tree welcome in high summer
Parents' tips
- Combine the playground with the neighbouring skatepark: it is the best way to keep younger and older children busy in one place.
- The picnic table goes quickly on Wednesday afternoons, arrive early if you plan to have your snack there.
- The climbing tree impresses the youngest ones: stay close for their first attempts.
- On a rainy day, the La Cigale toy library and the Savigny-Forel library are a few minutes away on foot.
- Opening times and the state of the equipment can change: the commune has its playgrounds inspected every year.

Why we recommend it
Because it turns a simple stop into a real outing. On its own, it is a good village playground. Together with the skatepark, the multisports court, the athletics track and the community hall around it, it becomes a small free family hub, reachable by bus from Lausanne, where you can spend a whole afternoon without spending a franc.
In a nutshell
Combined towers, a climbing net and a climbing tree, a soft surface and a picnic table, in the centre of Savigny and right beside the skatepark: the most complete playground in the commune.
