The completely rebuilt playground in Savigny
At the bottom of the village, in the Claie-aux-Moines area, the chemin de la Verne playground has been rethought from the ground up. The annual inspection in June 2024 had concluded that most of the equipment was worn out. Rather than patching it up, the commune took advantage of the road works on the chemin de la Verne to demolish and rebuild everything, with a dedicated budget of 125,000 francs for the earthworks, the play equipment, the furniture and the fence. The credit was approved by the communal council on 5 May 2025, and the new playground was fitted out in stages through to 2026.
What your children will discover
Three pieces of equipment shape the playground: a big boat, a large swing and a balance grove. The boat is the centrepiece, the one that sets off the pirate stories; the swing and the balance grove add movement and coordination. All of it sits on a wood chip surface, soft underfoot. A drinking fountain has been installed and connected on the playground, which is rare in a village playground and makes a real difference on hot days.
What you do there and the atmosphere on site
The playground is split in two. To the south, the wood chip zone with the play equipment and benches. Along the footpath, a grassed area with a picnic table and benches, ideal for laying out a snack or letting a toddler run on the grass. All the furniture is in black locust, a pale and durable wood: two benches with backrests, two backless benches and the table. A new fence separates the playground from the pavement, which is reassuring when children are running in every direction. An information panel was put up on site in 2026.

Parents' tips
- This is the only playground in Savigny with a drinking fountain: a real argument in high summer.
- The fence on the pavement side makes the space safer, but stay alert on the footpath side, which remains open.
- The picnic table and benches make it a good mid-afternoon stop, so bring a snack.
- Wood chips hold moisture: after heavy rain, wear shoes you do not mind getting dirty.
- With older children, add the skatepark and the multisports court in the village centre.

Why we recommend it
Because it is new, designed as a whole, and it ticks the boxes that really matter to a parent: a fence separating it from the street, a shock-absorbing surface, a drinking fountain, a table for the snack and shade to come. The big boat is the kind of play structure that keeps children busy for an hour without anyone having to organise a thing. For a village playground, that is a very fine piece of equipment.
In a nutshell
A big boat, a large swing, a balance grove, a drinking fountain and black locust furniture behind a new fence: the most recent playground in Savigny.
