Terre Sainte with children: our ideas between Coppet, Founex and Mies

Between Geneva and Nyon, Terre Sainte is often driven through without stopping. A shame: this small region at the end of Lake Geneva hides a romantic castle, well-kept playgrounds, an ice rink, an indoor pool and lovely shores for a family stroll.

Terre Sainte brings together the communes of Coppet, Commugny, Founex, Mies, Tannay, Chavannes-de-Bogis and their neighbours. Everything is less than ten minutes away by car — or reachable by regional train and bus.

Coppet, the historic heart

• Le Château de Coppet: the home of Madame de Staël can be visited as a family, and its grounds delight children.
• Le Musée du Vieux-Coppet: a dive into life in times gone by, from age 5.
• The lakeside promenade and the CGN landing stage: perfect with a stroller, with CGN boats docking in season.
• The Terre Sainte indoor pool and the ice rink: the winning duo for winter weekends.
• The toy library and the intercommunal library: two precious addresses for quiet afternoons.

Mies and Tannay, on the lake side

The beach in Mies is one of the most pleasant at this end of the lake for families, and the new Mies-Tannay shoreline offers a flat, peaceful walk. The playground and skatepark at the sports centre round off the outing. See the activities in Mies.

Founex, Commugny and Chavannes: sport and play

• The playground at the Founex sports centre and the sailing club for a first taste of sailing from age 6.
• Parc Marguerite in Commugny: the region’s mega playground, from the earliest age.
• The Sallivaz riding school in Chavannes-de-Bogis: pony riding from age 3.

Our suggested day

Morning: the Château de Coppet and a wander through the town. A picnic on the Mies-Tannay shoreline. Afternoon: the beach in Mies in summer, the pool or the ice rink in winter, and a snack at the Parc Marguerite playground to finish.
